“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” – Maya Angelou
“Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.” – Robert H. Schuller
Creativity, innovation, and motivation are the basic building blocks of the entrepreneur’s personality. If you are currently in, have been, or plan to be part of a startup, you absolutely need massive doses of all three in order to keep moving the progress meter forward.
When I am speaking of innovation and creativity in this sense, I’m not talking about inventing some amazing gadget, or creating some unique world-changing service. I’m talking about the ability to take the obstacles that will be thrown in front of you (and trust me, there will be many), and finding new and imaginative ways to overcome them. As entrepreneurs, obstacles don’t slow us down and de-motivate us, instead, we get a charge out of the challenge of a new problem and use this as fuel to drive us forward. This is in the entrepreneur’s DNA, we thrive on the challenges we will face, and we are better and stronger with each obstacle we overcome.
I’m not saying that every startup and entrepreneurial idea is going to be a great one, but I am saying that every great idea and startup has motivation, innovation, and creativity in its DNA.
Entrepreneurs are awesome.
